The Rite of Confirmation is held during the spring for 10th grade students enrolled in our religious education program. The Confirmation Preparation program consists of two years, usually grades 9 and 10. Students preparing for Confirmation participate in regular classroom sessions, listen to guest speakers, participate in retreats, and must complete community service hours.
The Bishop of the South Region of the Archdiocese of Boston confers the sacrament of Confirmation on adults each year in the spring. For those desiring to participate in the sacrament, St. Marys will be offering a preparation session in the parish in January. This can be a wonderful opportunity to grow and develop one’s faith. The sessions are geared toward exploring how God acts in our lives and how membership in the Church strengthens our relationship with God our creator, God our savior, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. Contact Jane Kuklis at 781-545-3335, Ext. 4 for more information.
Sacrament of Marriage
It is necessary to contact the Parish Office at least six months in advance of the anticipated wedding date in order to provide sufficient time to prepare for this Sacrament. Please call the office at 781-545-3335 Ext. 4.
Holy Orders and Religious Life
We encourage parishioners interested and called to serve God in the Church as a priest, deacon or religious brother or sister. Additional information about vocations in the Catholic faith, and in the Archdiocese of Boston in particular, can be obtained through the Archdiocese website.
St. Mary of the Nativity also has a program in place which encourages families to pray together for vocations to the priesthood and religious life as the parish joins them in those prayers. Through our Vocation Cross Program one family per week is presented with the cross at Mass and asked to pray the vocation prayer each day. After one week, the cross is then presented to the next family. Individuals or families that would like to participate may sign-up in the vestibule of the Main church. If you are discerning a vocation, please contact the Pastor or Vocation Office of the Boston Archdiocese at 617-746-5949 or
Anointing of the Sick
Pastoral care of the sick and dying is a very important part of our Catholic mission. The Anointing of the Sick can be administered to any Catholic who is seriously ill or anticipating surgery or a medical procedure. This Sacrament should be received in the early stages of illness and should not be delayed until the person is dying. Please call the Parish Office to make arrangements for this Sacrament to be administered or if you would like further information.
In an emergency situation after office hours, call 781-545-3335 Ext. 4 and listen for the "emergency line" options.
